Background:
LEAD Nepal has been working in waste management since 2004. Currently we are executing two projects. One is Disaster Waste A Holistic Approach for Nepal and the other in Waste & Climate Change. We are looking for a young dynamic individual to join our team as Program Officer.

Job description:

  • Assist project team to plan, coordinate and implement project activities effectively and efficiently according to the project document.
  • Assist project team to conduct baseline survey with effective and transparent communication with all stakeholder to achieve the outcome
  • Assist Team Leader to organize stakeholder meetings, national and regional workshops and to prepare logistics arrangement.
  • Assist Team Leader to prepare project progress reports as per project requirements
  • Assist to develop and publish the information, education and communication (IEC) materials for project and disseminate and share in close coordination with the project unit
  • Assist to prepare milestone, action plan with required budgets and human resources for each project output and project activities and present to the National Technical Committee for approval and endorsement.
  • Support to assess technology based on Sustainable Assessment of Technology (SAT) methodology to identify the most feasible environmental sound technology (EST) in Nepalese context.
  • Support to implement the selected EST in pilot project municipalities.
  • Assist to manage, monitor and report actual project implementation as specified in the project document and in line with procedure and guidelines
  • Bring in innovative ideas for project implementation and building new project proposals
  • And any other activities requested by the Team Leader

Qualification:
Master Degree in one of the disciplines in Environmental Engineer and Natural Resource Management.

Experience and Skills:

  • At least 3 years of working experience in project management and working experience particularly in climate change mitigation, technology assessment and waste management projects.
  • Strong conceptual understanding government policies, strategy and program priorities in waste management, climate change and gender and social-inclusion.
  • Strong understanding and experience on analyzing data.
  • Good training and facilitation skill and relevant experience in evidence-based advocacy, lobbying and networking.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and documentation skill
  • Good English and Nepali reading and writing skills

Job description:
Under the direct supervision of team leader, the Finance Officer will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Verify all bills and invoices including supporting documents against the approved activities and submit for approval.
  • Ensure proper coding and structure in all documents before the financial reports analysis.
  • Maintain and safely keep back up data of finance and finance related documents.
  • Prepare financial reports and review supporting documentation submitted by project team and ensure that expenditure is in line with the approved budget and work plan.
  • Review all the transaction in TALLY including the balance sheet data and ensure that all are properly posted and recorded. Provide the review status to the team leader every month.
  • Prepare monthly and annual budget vs actual analysis report and prepare quarterly and annual progress report.
  • Maintain, track and follow up the staff advances and payables to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide support to project team for Cost Analysis for all procurement of Goods and Services.
  • Provide the necessary support to internal auditors as per the need.
  • Ensure all official documentation/registration are updated at the CDO, SWC and the tax office.
  • Ensure all TDS are prepared and paid in time.
  • Any other activity as directed by the team leader.

QUALIFICATION
Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Finance or related fields

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  •  At least 4 years of accounting/Auditing experience with a reputable organization; preferably Non-Governmental Organization
  • Good judgment in analyzing data and information
  • Knowledge and skills of computerized accounting systems
  • Excellent computer skills in other computer packages such as MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and TALLY.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Honest and possessing a high level of integrity.
  • Excellent English and Nepali Reading and Writing Skills
